FAQ - everything you need to know

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of gear and equipment do I need to have for practice?

Swimsuit, water bottle, goggles, swim cap (optional), PFD (optional), towel.

Do you need experience to participate in this sport?

Yes! Entry level experience and knowledge in the pool is required. This is not a learn to swim program.

Anything above beginner swimming is by coach selection only based on assessment. All athletes that are in this program must complete a skill evaluation/assessment at the beginning of the season to ensure it is a good fit for them. Coaches work together to find a program that is best suited for the athlete to ensure they are benefiting from the instruction given.

How do you qualify for a competition in this sport?

Beginner swimming athletes typically do not compete at sanctioned events. Coach discretion may be used for athletes who have increased their skills and are comfortable attending competition.

Athletes in intermediate and advanced must participate in a qualifying meet in their desired swim events. Based on final times, they will advance to the next level of competition.

What happens if there is inclement weather?

Weather cancellations are determined on the day of the program. If severe weather is forecasted during program time, the program will typically be cancelled (snowstorms, extreme cold warnings, etc.)

See weather policy for more information!
